Industry standards of MPR publication approved

According to Subcommittee 7 on Publication Format, National Technical Committee 4 on Information and Documentation of Standardization Administration of China (SAC/TC4/SC7), to promote the MPR technology and standardize the use of MPR codes, GAPP recently approved five industry standards of MPR publication –Specification of MPR Code Symbol, Encoding Principles of MPR Code, General Specification of Producing, Requirements and Inspecting Method for Printing Quality of MPR Code and Basic Management Specification.
An expert from SAC/TC4/SC7 said, a two dimensional code used to enable the reading out loud of a printed book should have large capacity so that there is no need to reuse codes and thus mistakenly playing audio content can be avoided. Among four existing coding schemes, only MPR code meets this requirement. Further, MPR code can be printed under normal printing conditions. So there is no need to change printing process and devices and it does not affect productivity of printing at all. And MPR code can be correctly parsed despite being lightly stained/defected or imperfectly printed.
