Symposium for ISLI Standard Application Held in Guangzhou

On March 19, 2018, the Symposium for ISLI Standard Application was held in Administration of Press, Publication, Radio, Film and Television of Guangdong Province in Guangzhou. The symposium is a summary of the status of ISLI standard application in Guangdong Province, The person-in-charge of each application demonstration unit participated in the symposium and reported about the status of application respectively. Feng Hongsheng, the deputy director of Digital Publishing Department for State Administration of Radio and Television of the People's Republic of China (previously called State Administration of Press, Publication, Radio, Film and Television of the People's Republic of China), Wu Yuanming, director of Technology and Standard Management Department for State Administration of Radio and Television of the People's Republic of China (SART), Zhong Qingcai, deputy chief of Administration of Press, Publication, Radio, Film and Television of Guangdong Province, and relevant persons presented the Symposium.
Zhong Qingcai summarized the overall status of ISLI standard application in Guangdong Province. With the support of SART and active practice of each application demonstration unit, some achievements have been made in ISLI standard application in Guangdong Province, which included:
a) in reaction to the Notice about Implementation of ISLI National Standard issued by SART actively, completing the registration work of units in Guangdong press, publication, radio, film and television.
b) 20 units have been confirmed as demonstration units of ISLI Standard application.
c) based on the conditions of its own, each publishing unit has published a series of ISLI products.
d) through discussion and communication with technology support provider (MPR Tech), each publishing unit has accumulated much experience, multiple ISLI products have been published, and more ISLI application forms have been developed in publishing field in the meantime.
While approving the accomplishment of application, Zhong Qingcai pointed out the problems appeared in standard application, that is, the publicity and implementation work isn't done effectively, each publishing unit should reinforce it. Moreover, how to plan and regulate the work of ISLI standard application on management level, how to explore and assure better marketing and business model on application level, the aforementioned problems remained to be main points required to be improved in the future work of ISLI standard application.
As the first batch of Demonstration Units of ISLI Standard Application, Guangdong Provincial Publishing Group, Digital Publishing Company of Guangdong Provincial Publishing Group, Educational Press of Guangdong Province, Jinan University Press, Guangzhou Press, Guangdong Higher Education Press and South China University of Technology Press, introduced the status of ISLI standard application, main attainments and experience acquired respectively.
After listening to the report on their discrete works, Feng Hongsheng generalized that Guangdong Province walks in the forefront nationwide not only in ISLI technology system assembly and digitized resources processing, but also in the exploration of market model, which will set a good example to the nationwide application of ISLI standard. With regards to the problems appeared in ISLI application, he emphasized, on the premise that continual promotion of ISLI standard application is conducted by the authorities, on the one hand, technology companies shall function as supporter for ISLI technology system and explore more possibilities of ISLI application, on the other hand, content companies shall further widen their way on publishing and ISLI application scope whilst realizing the digitized transformation and upgrade of traditional publishing, they shall extend ISLI standard to more fields in the future, attain genuinely the integrated development of content industry and other industries, and transmit more valuable contents.
