Mr. Shen introduced about the current state of publishing industry first, publishing industry has realized informationization of management by building ERP system, but book compilation (which means 'three examinations and three audits in book publishing) was not digitized, even though the pilot units of compound publishing have made some prospects and accumulated a few experience in recent years, to promote this comprehensively is quite difficult, compound publishing and integrated development are at the preliminary stage. Oriented to the requirement of the development of the times, publishing houses should enhance in-depth cooperation with technology companies and promote the rebuilding of publishing flow by making joint efforts to solve main problems, only by this can the publishing industry achieve the target of 'improve quality, increase efficiency and lower cost' and speed up the transformation and upgrade and integrated development, he said.
Li Hong, director of Research Department for China Industry and Information Technology Publishing Group and counselor for the Alliance represented the Alliance to report. He reviewed the situation of digitized transformation and upgrade in central cultural enterprises which started in 2013, due to the immaturity of technical solution, transformation and upgrade work didn't achieve prospective outcome and wasn't successful. By analyzing the transformation and upgrade work in 2013, he thought technology enterprises and publishing houses should collaborate and work together. The foundation of Alliance consolidates the relationship between publishing houses, publishing houses and technology enterprises, and makes the problems required to be solved in transformation and upgrade of publishing industry clearer. To realize transformation and upgrade, the work can't only be conducted in digital publishing departments, the press staff should join in, only through this can the transformation and upgrade be successful, he pointed out. In addition, he made an instruction on the method of project cooperation and specific implementation contents in the Alliance.
Cai Li, deputy director of Digitization Center of Jiangsu Phoenix Publishing Group, briefed on the situation in his Group. They have started digitization technology application since 2010 and the digitized system was adopted in the management of publishing resources and examination questions, it showed that the effect of the application was good, he said. They also attached much importance to the digitized compilation of books and began to pay attention to it since 2012. Jiangsu Phoenix Publishing Group decided to pilot digitized compilation in three of its affiliated presses, and Beijing Founder Electronics Com., Ltd. has conducted training recently.
Tang Cheng, director of Standards Press of China introduced about his press, he told the participants that his press has achieved a lot on POD, and for digitized compilation, the press has its pragmatic application demand, he hopes that the technology enterprises could expand the opening in technology and interface, and keep up with the international trend.
Li Zhengfang, Chairman of Shenzhen MPR Technology Co., Ltd. (MPR Tech) introduced MPR Tech. MPR Tech has been engaged in the work of technical support for MPR and ISLI standard, and they hope to lift the capacity of publishing industry in releasing multi-form products by applying ISLI standard.
Gao Shusheng, Counsel and Deputy Director of Cultural System Reform and Development Office for CPC Publicity Department, wrapped up the seminar in the end. He told the participants that he acquired a lot in the seminar, what the speakers shared in their speeches matched their idea and proved their judgment.
The rebuilding of publishing flow is to build digitized assembly line, in the meantime, the problem of separation between paper book publishing and digital publishing has to be solved.
The transformation and upgrade of press must centre on the editors. To serve the editors, 'plus' and 'minus' should be done in the work. 'Minus' is to reduce the burden of editors, that is, to liberate them from the repetitious and low-value work and to do more valuable work. 'Plus' is to add power to editors, i.e. to make editors know more valuable information relying on big data.
The transformation and upgrade of press should solve the problem of shortage of impetus. The positioning of transformation and upgrade of publishing industry must be reconsidered, the current positioning is not high enough so that it has to handle the crush of internet passively. Other industries is on the bullet rain while publishing industry is still on the cart. The transformation and upgrade of publishing industry is to make the press go by bullet train.
The transformation and upgrade of press should pursue more and combine with the production system of culture, if the presses don't join in, they will be knocked out in the future.
The publishing industry has to innovate the model of book publishing, and make a breakthrough in the present pricing system. Book needs to be interactive, linked and multi-form, and ' one book can be one world'.
